Fifty Flags Saga
Howdy, I’m a millennial entrepreneur from Austin.
Along with millions of Americans, my hard work and dreams were crushed during the Great Recession. Amid the national despair, I found inspiration from the struggle previous generations had overcome and began working on a new monument that would rally America’s spirit. Named Unity Tower, its aspiration was the largest flag pole on earth. Over the years I refined the concept into Fifty Flags, but the goal remained to inspire and unify Americans.
America has been called an idea, an experiment, exceptional, indispensable, and a superpower. I believe it is the greatest story of history and the dream is to add your own chapter.
Here are a few chapters that inspired me:
My sixth great grandfather William Montgomery helped the Province of Pennsylvania declare independence from the British Empire and save the American Revolution during the Ten Crucial Days.
151 years later, amid the Great Depression, my cousin Montgomery Babcock Case helped build an “Eighth Wonder of the World” at the same location William had retreated during the New York Campaign. It flew the world’s largest Old Glory for 67 years.
My third great uncle James Montgomery Rice helped preserve America during the Civil War at Chickamauga, Missionary Ridge, and Kennesaw Mountain among others.
My grandfather Charles Montgomery Marriøtt lost both hands, partial hearing, and was riddled with shrapnel from a stielhandgranate during the Battle of Reichswald in World War II. After marrying his high school sweetheart, he practiced nuclear interventional radiology for three decades, founded the Marriøtt Radiology Group, served as chief of staff, department head, Fellow of the American College of Radiology, Diplomat of the American Board of Radiology, and raised eight children.
I would love to hear your chapter and how you define America. Connect with me:
